Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (달의 연인 – 보보경심 려) – A Wonderful Heartbreak

This review (Currently Watching article here) is going to be short because there are no words to describe this drama. It was beyond perfect. It was touching, hurtful, lovely, hopeful, heart breaking and cruel. It was so much and yet it managed to flow beautifully and remain perfect from its first second right until its last.

Scarlet Heart gave us such deep emotions from all of its actors. Every single one of them was a character that was one of a kind; they’re lives were precious and their emotions deep. The setting and OST were flawless. There is nothing to improve in this drama. I have never particularly liked a historical drama but Scarlet Heart breaks every pattern there is, so it is impossible to resist it.

The romance between So and Hae Soo was incredible. The two were a match made in heaven. Even though they went through so much difficulties while getting together and while being together they are forever a couple. They cannot be separated by other people, time or death. They together prove that you can love a person without being together with them.

Scarlet Heart proved us so many things. It showed us that power does not bring us happiness. It showed that life is only made of fleeting moments. Sometimes they’re happy and sometimes they can break you completely.

It’s characters taught us how to love and how not to love. It proved once again that we all want someone to understand and support us. The characters showed us that no one is completely evil and that everyone changes. Our lives or our fates are not predestined but that we ourselves with the choices that we make can make a difference.

The characters were their own persons and stayed true to who they were. So never was a choir boy; he was a wolf and became a king that was true to his nature. Hae Soo was thrown into an unknown situation and still remained a caring woman. Even though she left So she never really could leave him. She stayed true to him and loved only him until she died.

So how can I praise Scarlet Heart like this and still call it a heart-break? Because I will forever miss it. Scarlet Heart made my heart flutter every week and now it’s left broken. The characters will live on forever in my heart and will always be a part of me. That’s how deep of an impression this drama left me with. Scarlet Heart didn’t shy away from anything; it loved death and romance. It was unpredictable and oh so perfect.

I believe I’m not the only one who will miss this drama forever.

This is what is left of my heart now that Scarlet Heart is over: only ruins and endless tears. Stay strong.
