Yoon Jin Ah (Son Ye Jin) works hard in her relationship and at her office. One day she is dumped by her boyfriend but she moves on. Seo Joon Hee (Jung Hae In), is the little brother to Yoon Jin Ah’s best friend. The three have known each other since they were children but after Seo Joon Hee returns from working abroad something changes in the relationship of Jin Ah and Joon Hee. The two begin to secretly date.
Yoon Jin Ah is a calm person who rather gives than takes. When she falls in love she gives it her all.
Seo Joon Hee is handsome young man who is aware of his good looks. Still, he is friendly and easy to get along with. He is close to his sister and Yoon Jin Ah. As he looks at Yoon Jin Ah with hearts in his eyes he melts my heart.
After he returns to Korea Yoon Jin Ah begins buying him dinner and the two get closer. They get attracted to each other as they spend more and more time together.
Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food has really enjoyable romance. Jin Ah and Joon Hee are a calm pair: they realize their attraction, admit to it and decide to date. They’re perfect together. They know how to have fun and spend quality time together. Their romance is peaceful to watch and brings a smile to my lips. Their love is sweet, new and silly.
I also like the fact that this drama is making Yoon Jin Ah realize her ‘mistakes’ at work. She has put up with too much from her male co workers and her mother too. I love subtle criticism in dramas.
Now I have to mention the name of this drama. It even has a good story behind it, yet somehow it was translated to Something in the Rain. Why? 밥 잘 사주는 예쁜 누나 means a pretty noona who buys me food and as the drama has very little to do with rain so why translate it as such? Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food even sounds more interesting than something in the rain. It’s so unoriginal.
I love Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food’s way of serene way of depicting romance. Jin Ah and Joon Hee are great together: so natural and adorable. I hope that as they get together very, very early in the drama they will stay together throughout the drama. They are perfect this way and I would hate to have to see them break up.
